The summer reading program at the Knoxville Public Library will start on Wednesday.
This year’s theme for the program is “Color our World” which aims to encourage readers of all ages to explore the world of art and creativity. Throughout the summer, the library will hold several programs and activities that are free for kids of all ages and their families. Some of the programs that will be held this summer include outdoor fantastic fun foam, twisted bo-kay storytime with balloons, game show fun, juggling and comedy, a magic show, Celia’s sing along and much more.
To participate in the summer reading program, you need to fill out a reading log available at the library as kids are encouraged to read for 20 minutes a day for 30 days between Wednesday and July 10th. However, you don’t need to be a part of the summer reading program to attend the library summer programs. Those who complete a whole reading log will be eligible for prizes at the end of the summer. Knoxville Public Library Children’s Librarian Holly Shelford says this program wouldn’t be possible without community support.
“We’re just thankful. We have a great community here that supports our library and also that helps support and fund our summer reading program here. If you’re looking for something to do don’t forget to check out the library because we have a lot going on for all ages here. I’m looking forward to a fun and colorful summer.”
The library will be able to utilize the new library park for some of their programming for the first time this summer. Hear a complete preview of the 2025 Knoxville Public Library summer reading program from Shelford on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
