Large crowds turned out in Knoxville Friday afternoon for the tenth annual Helmets and Hotdogs event.

The afternoon was filled with a large number of booths representing many different community organizations and businesses to promote safety in every aspect. There were bike helmet giveaways to anyone who needed one, bike raffles, food, games, and prizes. The event was held at the Marion County Fairgrounds for the first time this year due the event continuing to grow. Angie Hartzel is an organizer for the event and she is thankful for the huge turnout and all the community partners who make this event possible.

“It was absolutely amazing. I was so flabbergasted when we saw that wall of people come through. There were so many vendors that came, so many community partners that came, we had such a tremendous amount of donations given to us and I just couldn’t have asked for a better day.”

Many different local businesses, community organizations and individuals made donations to make this event possible. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio played music at the event.
