 The Newton girls soccer team will attempt to extend their season tonight at H.A. Lynn Stadium while the boys baseball team plays the second game on their schedule.

Ballard’s girls soccer team will take on the Cardinals in a 7 p.m. Class 2A Region 3 Quarterfinal. The winner will play #12 Pella in Pella Thursday, May 8th. Ballard is 3-10-3 while Newton’s record is 8-5-3. The Cardinals have more goals (38 to 31), and more shots on goal (133 to 115) than Ballard. The Bombers have given up 49 goals this season, while Newton has allowed 31.

Two freshmen lead Newton’s offense and defense. Sophia Coady has 52 shots on goal, 18 goals, and 11 assists. Addyson Cibula has 125 saves, and a save percentage of 80.1%.

The Cardinals boys baseball team will attempt to get their first win of the season against Bondurant-Farrar, after losing Wednesday’s home opener to Saydel 5-3. This will be Bondurant-Farrar’s season opener. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. and you can listen to the home game beginning at 6:45 p.m. on KRLS3.
