The Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of two new electric Convection Ovens for the Jasper County Community Center this week. County Maintenance Director Adam Sparks says the new Blodgett ovens will replace identical units that have worked well, but are at the end of their life.

“It’s what they are used to using. If we switch to another brand, you have to relearn how to use it. The other reason we went with the Blodgett is that it’s actually the Cadillac of all the models.”

Sparks got three bids for the two ovens from companies in Des Moines, Clive, and Cedar Falls. The low bid of $22,500 that was accepted was from TriMark Hockenbergs in Des Moines. Sparks had budgeted $25,000 for the purchase of the new ovens.
