About 200 new graduates will participate in Newton High School’s 2025 graduation ceremony at Maytag Park Sunday afternoon. If there is rain, the ceremony will be moved to the school’s upper gym. Newton Superintendent Tom Messenger says that’s where last year’s ceremony was held.
“Last year we had some thunderstorms come in, and it was held inside the gymnasium at the high school. But I believe all three years prior to that, it was outside.”
A free shuttle service from the high school to Maytag Park will be available from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Sunday, with buses returning to the senior high school parking lots after the ceremony. A specific traffic pattern will also be in place around Maytag Park during the graduation ceremony, which begins at 3 p.m.. After 1:00 p.m., vehicles will need to display proper passes to enter the park.
The last day of school for the 2024-2025 school year in Newton is next Friday, May 30th.
