The Knoxville Girls Tennis doubles team of Janie Maasdam and Marlea Cox will embark on the state meet later this week in Waterloo. The Panther duo will face off against Addy Joslin and Lauren Muller of Dike-New Hartford on Friday at 10:00am. A potential 2nd round against a nearby rival duo from Pella, Sydney Namninga and Kytilin Plate at noon with a win. Knoxville Coach Nick DeMoss tells KNIA/KRLS Sports while Maasdam’s goal was to get to State in singles, it was evident that doubles was the way to go especially after last year’s close call.
DeMoss: “We had four of the top 10 or 12 players in the state, and then the State sent us to Fairfield and there were a lot of great players there, and we chose doubles and I think we made the right decision.”
The event gets started Friday at Byrnes Park in Waterloo and will continue on Saturday. See a full bracket with this story at KNIA KRLS dot com.
