
Every event came down to the wire in the Class 3A race for first, and the Dutch boys track and field team emerged with the school’s fifth consecutive top three finish, placing runner-up in the team standings on Saturday at Drake Stadium.
Pella placed 2nd behind their Little Hawkeye Conference rivals from Newton with 56 team points of their own, edging Clear-Creek Amana and Gilbert by one to claim that trophy.
Saturday’s results for Pella included:
100 Meters – Harrison Mullens, 5th
110 Hurdles – Logan VanDenBroek, 5th
800 Meters – Canaan Dunham, 3rd; Mason Gaulke, 9th
1600 Meters – Canaan Dunham, 3rd; Jonah Ebersole, 15th
4×400 Relay – 5th (N. Ligman, N. Warner, C. Kerndt, H. Mullens)
The Pella girls added two school records to their ledger on Saturday, placing in a tie for 8th with 30 points in Class 3A. Saturday’s events included:
800 Meters – Lizzy VandeVoort, 9th (2:17.32 – new school record), Raegan Snieder, 11th (2:20.7)
1500 Meters – Marissa Ferebee, 4th (4:39.38), Ruth Dunham, 15th (4:57.43)
Sprint Medley Relay – 10th, 1:49.53 (A. Melvin, G. Treur, M. Schiebout, L. Neumann)
4×400 Relay – 3rd, 3:54.26 – new school record (E. VandeVoort, K. Barnes, M. Schiebout, L. Neumann)
