Three sports squads are in action for Knoxville today.

Knoxville Boys Golf Heads To Day One Of State

The boys golf squad for the 5th straight year will play at the class 3A State Meet. The Panthers qualified last week with a 2nd place finish in Waverly at the District meet. Knoxville placed 8th last season after struggling on the first day, and never got to complete the meet due to rain causing the 2nd day to be cancelled. This year’s meet will be contested at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls. Listen for reports throughout the day on KNIA/KRLS.

Knoxville Boys Soccer Hosts Ballard In Sub State Semifinal

The Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad will embark on its road to the State Tournament by hosting a class 2A substate semifinal match against Ballard. The Panthers have been off from competition since a May 16th win over Pella and have won their last seven compiling an 11-1-3 record. The Bombers come in at 1-15-1, but that record is deceiving due to Ballard being forced to forfeit five matches. Ballard did beat Gladbrook-Reinbeck in the opening round last week. Tonight’s match is set to begin at 7:00 at Randy Wilson Track.

Knoxville Softball Travels To Chariton For Season Opener

The season begins for the Girls of Summer along Panther Drive as the Panthers will travel to Chariton to open up the season tonight. The Panthers are coming off an 11-14 season but were in contention for the South Central Conference title until the last week of the season. Coach Chris Peden tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the conference race will be competitive with no team running away.

Peden: “There’s no nights off, we’ve said that before. I think it’ll be a lot of close games, not very many zeros in the loss column. I think teams are going to be stealing games from each other, it’s going to be very competitive and we hope to be right there.”

Listen for all of the action tonight on 95.3 KNIA at 7:00.
