The Pella baseball team found tough competition in Carlisle on Memorial Day, with the No. 2 in 3A Dutch splitting a non-conference twin bill with the Wildcats. Pella earned victory in game one 6-1 and fell in extra innings in game two by a 6-5 margin. Game one was highlighted by a five-inning, three hit performance by Nathan VandeLune on the mound, with Samuel Carlson getting 5 Ks on the mound in two innings to close out the victory. Nathan Carey also added a double and a home run in that contest. Game two was opened in the first inning with a three-run home run by 2024 Elite Super Team Selection Isaiah Kettler, but the Dutch offense fell cold from there. The Dutch move to 4-1 overall and are at home to begin Little Hawkeye Conference action against Indianola on Wednesday. Live coverage of game two of the twin bill begins after the conclusion of game one at approximately 7:15 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS. All home games can also be viewed this summer on Pella Dutch Live on YouTube.
