
Ulysses Patterson’s strong finish helped net his fourth NCAA All-American honors, placing 14th overall in the decathlon on Friday.
Entering the second day in 15th in the standings, Patterson began with 110m hurdles, where the senior took 16th with a time of 16.77 seconds. The time gave Patterson 648 points.
Patterson took 16th again in the discus for his second event of the day for 517 points, holding him at 15th in the overall standings. After clearing 3.50m in the pole vault for 17th place and 482 points, Patterson shined in the javelin. A best mark of 46.02m on his second throw of the afternoon placed him ninth overall for 530 points.
In the final event of the competition in the 1500m race, Patterson secured the All-American honors with a ninth place finish with a time of 4:53.68 minutes.
