Both Twin Cedars Summer sports squads will be in action with the softball squad making its season debut against Seymour. The softball squad is under new leadership this season after long-time coach Zack Dunkin stepped aside after last summer. In his place is Brad Arends. Arends tells KNIA/KRLS Sports while the expectations are the same for this program, there will be a few things different, starting with the pitching rotation.
Arends: “Might start with one pitcher and the other comes in and then we might go back to the original pitcher that we started. It’s going to look a lot different from what fans are used to seeing the last 5-10 years.”
Arends adds freshman Khloe French, the younger sister of standout pitcher Jillian French, who graduated last year and senior Ami Mockenhaupt. Last season French pitched in just two games with an 0-1 record while Mockenhaupt was2nd on the team last season with 23 RBI. The Baseball Squad will look for its first win of the season after starting out last week 0-3.
