It was two big innings that were the difference as Seymour defeated the Twin Cedars Softball Squad 14-6 in six innings via the new eight run rule limit. The Sabers took the lead in the 1st inning when Khloe French reached on a walk and then stole 2nd and scored on an RBI single by Ami Mockenhaupt. The Warriors then exploded for six runs in the 2nd. The Sabers tried coming back and cut the lead to 9-6 in the 4th but another five runs in the top of the 6th put the game out of reach. On the baseball diamond, the Sabers blasted Seymour 14-3. Twin Cedars rapped out 12 hits and limited Seymour to just five. Dallas Smith collected three hits and three RBI. Holden Roberts went the distance striking out five. The softball Sabers return to action tonight as they host #2 in 1A Martensdale St. Mary’s, while baseball will host East Union tonight.
