In a ranked non-conference matchup Thursday, it was advantage Mustangs as #6 in 3A PCM defeated #13 in 4A Pella in a 6-4 softball contest. The road team built a six-run lead over three innings, fueled in part due to four Dutch errors. The Dutch matched PCM’s three-run fourth inning and brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the 7th, but couldn’t finish the rally. Addison Steenhoek led the Mustangs with three hits and two runs batted in; Emma Eekhoff added three hits of her own to her seven strikeouts in the pitching circle. Lillian Humpal also had a two-run home run for the road team. PCM improves to 3-0 overall and Pella falls to 1-2 overall; the Mustangs head to Grand View Christian tonight, and the Dutch welcome #10 in 4A DCG to Pella Middle School.
