A Pella man was arrested earlier this week for a felony charge of child endangerment causing bodily injury.

According to court documents, the mother of the victim contacted the Pella Police Department and reported that her son had been hit by 34-year-old Geovany Rojas. Upon speaking with the victim, a Pella Police Officer reported that they noticed broken blood vessels on the child’s chest and neck, as well as bruises to the upper arm and wrist. When asked who made the marks, the victim indicated that Rojas had done so, and Geovany also allegedly admitted to hitting the victim on the chest. In the report, Rojas stated that he thought he heard the victim hitting their sibling in the home, and he entered the room and struck the child away with an open hand.

Rojas is charged with child endangerment causing bodily injury, a class D felony, and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Thursday at 9:30 am.
