
The State Tournament road came to an end for three Knoxville Athletes on Friday. Caelie Smith finished out the class three-A golf meet in 21st place shooting a round of 80 for a tournament score of 160 which was 16 over par. In the 2nd round Smith pared or birdied ten of the 18 holes played. Smith is a junior and will return next season for the Panthers. Tennis players Janie Maasdam and Marlea Cox’s State Doubles meet in the consolation round just one win away from placement matches. They began the day falling in first round action to Addy Joslin and Lauren Muller of Dike-New Harford in three sets, but came back to knock out a duo from Spirit Lake Okoboji to stay alive, but their meet ended losing to a pair from Cedar Rapids Xavier in three sets with the final set going 14-12. Both Maasdam and Cox ended their tennis careers at Knoxville.
