A roof replacement at West Elementary School in Knoxville is taking place this summer.
This replacement was approved at a school board meeting in March and School Business Manager Craig Mobley said he was anticipating bids to come in much higher for the project, but the district was excited for the bid of $211,000 they received from CMBA Architects. The maintenance team recently removed the solar panels from the roof and work will start on June 9th. Mobley hopes the work will be done by the end of July.
“The maintenance team here has removed all of the solar panels from the West roof on the areas that will be re-roofed. Starting on June 9th and June 10th the contractor will be here to start gearing up and getting that roof replaced. Hopefully by the end of July we will have that roof redone so we can plan on getting the solar panels put back up.”
The project is contracted through For Sure Roofing out of Des Moines.
