Kevin Thomas Jr. has spent most of the USAC National Sprint Car season frustrated and asking why he is not winning races or doing better. Saturday, he figured it all out and took the lead midway through the 30 lap[ A-Main at the Avanti Windows and Doors Corn Belt Clash. After getting the lead Thomas stretched out his margin and was never really challenged. Thomas said they made several changes and Saturday it paid off.

Thomas: “We have tried, and tried, and tried and it was just staring us in the face. We finally had some good things last night, but shock gave us problems. Tonight was the first night we were in the invert and gave ourselves a chance to win.”

In the 410 winged A-Main, Ryan Timms won for the 4th overall time at the Knoxville Raceway and the 3rd in the 410 car as he blew by Austin McCarl on a restart and never looked back. Timms also won the 360 show on Friday night and has won three out of the last four race nights. Next Saturday the Pro Sprints return for a weekly show.
