The Newton Baseball team has an overall record of 3-4 after the first week and a half of the season. They have played all their games without their head coach Darin Tisdale. He’s to return to the team this week. Assistant coach Colton Major has been acting head coach, and he’s been impressed with how the team has played in coach Tisdale’s absence.
“We have a fairly young team, both young and inexperienced. So there have been a lot of things going against the guys that they have had to work through.”
The four games Newton has lost have been by a combined total of seven runs. The Cardinals come into this week following back-to-back wins against Chariton and Pella Christian. They host Pella for a doubleheader Monday. The first game begins at 5:00 p.m., and the second game can be heard on 92.1 KRLS, with pregame coverage after the conclusion of game one.
