Indianola Wellness Campus Executive Director Heather Hulen has taken a new position as the Director of Business Growth and Development with the Iowa Association of School Boards. Hulen previously served as the Executive Director of the Indianola YMCA and was elected as an at-large Indianola City Council member in 2019, but resigned when the YMCA elected to move out of the facility and transfer operations to the City of Indianola in 2023 becoming the Indianola Wellness Campus. Hulen said in a statement:

“I’m so grateful for the incredible staff members, volunteers, and partners who’ve made my time at the Indianola Wellness Campus (previoulsy Indianola YMCA) so meaningful. Through challenges and change, this small but mighty team has consistently shown with heart, integrity, and a deep commitment to serving others. I’m especially thankful for the relationships built and the partnerships formed-each one has brought strength, support, and purpose to our shared work.

As I begin a new chapter as Director of Growth and Development with the Iowa Association of School Boards, I carry with me deep gratitude for this community and all it’s taught me.”

Doug Bylund, chief of culture and recreation, will act as the executive director for the Indianola Wellness Campus.
