Braylon Bigham shined on the mound for the #2 ranked Pleasantville baseball team Monday night as they defeated #6 Van Meter 3-1 at home with the softball team losing their contest in West Central Conference matchups.
Bingham went 6 ⅔ innings just giving up one run on five hits while recording 11 strikeouts. Easton Cox then came into the game to record the final out and pick up the save. Offensively Brayden Kennedy went 3-3 at the plate with 3 RBI and Logan Roff went 2-3 with a double. The Trojan baseball team improves to 6-0 on the season.
The Trojan softball team fell to the #1 ranked Bulldogs 19-1. Coach Alee Phillips said Van Meter hit the ball very hard and capitalized on her team’s mistakes and they were able to put the ball in play all over the diamond with many base hits. Phillips added that her team gave them some unearned runs but a team that hits as well as they do top to bottom are going to put high numbers on the board and cause mistakes. The Trojan softball team falls to 2-2 on the season.
The Pleasantville baseball and softball teams will be back in action tonight at Earlham.
