The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday evening, giving Chief of Culture and Recreation Doug Bylund with a Certificate of Merit in recognition of his exceptional service leading as interim city manager from March 10 through May 27.

The council tabled an issue regarding insurance premiums for vehicle accidents for their next meeting to get more information, and elected to not participate in the Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Alliance (CIRTPA) Safe Streets 4 All Federal Grant application.

The council approved appointments to the Planning and Zoning, Parks and Recreation, and Public Arts Commissions, a quote for $118,657.50 from Vice Construction for the Apparatus Bay Drain Reconstruction Project for the Indianola Fire Department, and an amendment to the fee schedule for EMS billing fees.

After the meeting, the council met in a study session to discuss the City of Indianola Tax Abatement Program, and Vision 2030.
