An incredible run finished with the Pella girls tennis team one step away from defending its 2024 state title win, as they placed 2nd in the Class 1A state team tournament finals played Monday in Pella. One year removed from defeating Cedar Rapids Xavier, the new-look Dutch had a state title rematch from a season ago after defeating Decorah by a 5-2 margin in the morning. Pella had its back against the wall with championship point in the singles round, only for Abby Hietbrink and Addison Van Wyk to rally and push the contest to the doubles round. The Dutch ultimately fell by a 5-2 margin to the Saints in the final. Hear from the state-runners up on Today’s Lely Radio Sports Page.
