The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday evening, giving Chief of Culture and Recreation Doug Bylund a Certificate of Merit in recognition of his exceptional service leading as interim city manager from March 10 through May 27.
Indianola Mayor Steve Richardson tells KNIA News Doug stepped up when asked to by council, and he kept city operations going when they needed leadership at the top.
“I can’t give Doug enough credit for what he’s done and how he handled things. His steadiness, his understanding of the city for the many years he’s actually worked here and everything that he has done. It was a real opportunity for us to say thank you in a big way. Doug is not one of those guys who will claim credit for anything, but I will tell you he is one of those folks that goes above and beyond each and every day. It doesn’t make any difference what department you are working with, he’s there to help out if he needs to. It was just a small thing we could do to say thank you and appreciate all of his work.”
