A 27 year Army Veteran and Purple Heart recipient has been selected to fill a vacant seat on the Jasper County Veterans Affairs Commission. Jasper County Human Resources Director Dennis Simon presented the Board of Supervisors with the recommendation that Robert Suesakul be appointed to fill Fred Chabot’s seat on the Jasper County Veterans Affairs Board

“He currently volunteers for the State. In my conversations with him, he said he sits on a state commission and goes to the Veterans Home in Marshalltown. So he brings some different experience with him and should be a good addition to the commission.”

The Jasper County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the recommendation. Chabot’s resignation takes effect at the end of this month, and Suesakul will join the Veterans Affairs Commission at their next meeting on July 9th. The other commissioners are Jerry Nelson, Marta Ford, Kat Thompson, and Ed Spangenberg.
