The Newton baseball team suffered their fourth straight loss Thursday, falling on the road at Grinnell 11-1 in six innings. 

The Cardinals had three hits in the contest, with senior shortstop Cade Bauer recording two singles and a stolen a base and sophomore centerfielder Kreytein Wickliffe hitting a double. Newton’s lone run came in the fourth inning on a sacrifice by senior Creighton Andrew. Grinnell had 11 hits and four walks, and benefited from four Cardinal errors. The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning, one in the third, six in the fifth, and ended the game with two more runs in the sixth.

The Newton baseball team fell to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Cardinals return to Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight for a doubleheader at Indianola, with the first game beginning at 5:00 p.m.
