Pella’s #4 in 3A baseball team and softball squad will look to complete winning weeks with a doubleheader at home against Pella Christian this evening. The Tulip City Showdown renews at Pella High School, with the Eagles coming in and trying to play spoiler on weeks where both Dutch summer teams are seeking momentum after difficult losses to ranked foes last week.
The Dutch baseball team (8-3 overall, 4-2 in the conference) is seeking to stay undefeated this week following a 4-2 victory in Norwalk. Pella leads the series since 2009 by a 34-15 margin, winning ten of the last 12 games dating back to 2021.
Pella’s softball girls (3-4 overall, 3-3 in the league) are seeking to bounce back after a 10-0 loss to #4 in 4A Norwalk and dropping out of the 4A rankings themselves. While the Eagles own the series in the Bound/Quikstats Era 24-17, the Dutch have won four games in a row.
Coverage of the Tulip City Showdown begins at 4:45 p.m. at the baseball diamond on the KRLS2 stream, with softball to follow at 5:15 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS. Both will be streamed on the Pella Dutch Live YouTube channel. Youth players wearing their jerseys also get free entry and can join the Dutch and Eagles during the starting lineups for game one of softball and game two of the baseball twin bills.
