The Indianola baseball team swept Newton in a home doubleheader Friday evening, winning 12-2 and 2-0.

Tate Atkin got the win on the mound in game one, going four innings and striking out four, while Andrew DeWall, George Blake, Bo Blake, and Brody Merema all earned hits at the plate.

Game two was a gem by Bryant Ritchie on the mound going the complete game striking out seven, while Daxton Heimbaugh went 2-2 at the plate and Bo Blake went 1-3 with a run driven in.

Indianola improves to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in LHC. Newton falls to 3-10 and 1-7, and will next host DCG on Monday.

The Indianola baseball team heads to St. Louis today to take on Bettendorf from Busch Stadium after the Cardinals vs Dodgers game. The game will be broadcast live from Busch Stadium with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the call on 94.3 KNIA, with pregame beginning at approximately 5:30pm.
