It did not start out good for the Knoxville Baseball Squad on Panther Drive last night against Albia, but it ended with a come-from-behind win over the Blue Demons 8-7 heard live on 95.3 KNIA. Knoxville was down 7-1 in the 4th inning when the comeback began with two runs in the 4th, and then forged ahead with a five spot in the 5th as Brenden Woolsey would hit what amounted to the winning RBI to win his own game. Coach Turner Devore told KNIA/KRLS Sports his team started to do things better.

Devore: “I don’t know what switched. It just took a couple of good at bats and good plays and getting some jobs done.”

Lincoln Norris went 2/3 with two RBI, Brady Roozeboom also was 2/3 with a run driven in. Roston McCarty and Woolsey also drove in two. Woolsey got the win pitching six innings of relief, walking three and striking out six. Knoxville is now 5-5 on the season and 3-2 in the South Central Conference. Meanwhile on the other side of Panther Drive, the softball squad ran into a buzzsaw against Albia and fell 12-0 with the game ending via the run rule after four innings. The Lady Dees scored all 12 runs in the 3rd inning and allowed Knoxville just one hit by Siena Scott. Jordyn Counts pitched two innings taking the loss. Knoxville is now 0-5. Both Panther squads will travel to Clarke on Monday.
