The Indianola baseball team mounted a massive 7th-inning comeback to walkoff Bettendorf in a game played at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Saturday, winning 10-9 heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indianola softball team competed in a tournament in Des Moines splitting their two games, falling 13-3 to Waukee NW and dominating DM Lincoln 16-0.

The baseball team went up early 4-0 in the second inning highlighted by a three-RBI triple by Max Wedmore and a RBI bunt by Zach Benge, but then went cold offensively as the Bulldogs scored nine unanswered runs to lead 9-4 heading into the bottom of the 7th.

Andrew DeWall and George Blake each had RBI singles, Asher Brueck had a two-RBI double to get the score within a run, and Bryant Ritchie drove in the tying run with a sacrifice fly. Dax Heimbaugh then hit a grounder with the infield in, and despite a diving stop by Bettendorf Brueck scored the game winner. Heimbaugh got the win on the mound, and Bo Blake and Ritchie each had two hits. The Indians are now 10-3 on the season.

The Indianola softball team took an early 1-0 lead against Waukee NW, but were outscored 13-2 over the next four innings as the game ended early. The script was flipped in game two of the tournament, scoring four runs in the 1st inning against the Railsplitters, another eight in the 2nd, then four more in the 3rd to end the game early. Indianola is now 4-5 on the season.

Both teams will host rival Norwalk Monday in Little Hawkeye Conference action.
