Jasper County’s Road Department says if the weather cooperates, work on two Hot Mix Asphalt resurfacing and milling projects on sections of old Iowa Highway 163 leading to Prairie City and Monroe will be mostly completed by the end of this week. Work that may remain and cause minor traffic disruptions could include pavement markings, shouldering, and driveway rock work. The Jasper County Road Department is aiming to have everything completed on both projects by the end of this month. The Jasper County Board of Supervisors awarded Manatt’s the construction contracts for these projects back in early January. The Brooklyn, Iowa company’s quote for resurfacing 1.3-miles of Quicksilver Avenue from just east of Iowa Highway 163 to Monroe was $457,372, while a $282,429 bid was submitted for .7-miles of resurfacing on Poplar Avenue from just east of West 116th Street East to Prairie City.
