The Indianola softball team mounted a seventh-inning comeback to walk-off rival Norwalk and give the Warriors their first loss of the season Monday, winning 8-7 heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Warriors went ahead 3-0 in the first inning with an RBI double by Carly Brewer and a two-run homer by Addie Fisher, with the Indians striking back on a Sam Gripp RBI double to cut the lead to 3-1 after the first. The Warriors pushed another run across in the second taking advantage of an Indianola miscue to lead 4-1, but Indianola struck back again in the bottom of the inning with Ava Tichy and Tessa Gripp earning RBI hits to cut the lead to 4-3. Indianola then scored two more in the third on a two-RBI double by Bria Boell to lead 5-4.

Both teams threatened but were unable to score, until the Warriors scored in the fifth on a sacrifice fly to tie the score from Kalli Henke, then seemingly took control in the sixth with a run off of an Indians error and an RBI groundout by Maddie Gullion to lead 7-5.

In the seventh, Sam Gripp hit an RBI double to get the score within one run, then Alexa Guyer ended the game with a two-run blast.

Tichy got the win in the circle for the Indians pitching three innings of relief, while Carly Brewer took the loss striking out nine. Fisher went 2-3 at the plate for the Warriors driving in two, while Sam Gripp and Guyer both went 2-4.

Norwalk falls to 12-1, and has a crucial conference doubleheader against Dallas Center-Grimes tomorrow, while Indianola is 5-5 and hosts Ballard tonight.
