
The Newton Police Department is investigating the death of an adult they found in a home on Monday.
Local, county, and federal law enforcement officers executed a search warrant just after 7 p.m. at 1210 N 4th Ave E in Newton as part of an ongoing investigation, according to a news release. Officers discovered a deceased adult inside the home. It was determined that the individual had died prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Detectives from the Newton Police Department and agents from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. In the coming days, the Office of the State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death. The identity of the deceased is being withheld, pending notification of the family.
There is no known ongoing threat to the community.
