
A California man arrested in late March for allegedly stealing a Grinnell woman’s SUV and attempting to use one of her credit cards in Newton, has entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge. Eighteen-year-old Noah Gene Morrison is scheduled to be sentenced August 4th for operating a vehicle without owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was originally charged with 1st degree theft, a class C felony, and credit card fraud under $1,500, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint against Morrison, he was arrested at the Love’s Truck Stop in Newton March 28th, after attempting to use the victim’s credit card to purchase a phone charger. The credit card had been in the Grinnell woman’s 2018 Toyota Highlander, which officers found Morrison in at the truck stop. The Modesto, California man is currently free awaiting his sentencing, on a $5,000 bond he posted May 1st.
