
The Norwalk summer sports teams reach the halfway point of Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight by hosting the current league leader in both softball and baseball – Dallas Center-Grimes. The varsity baseball doubleheader gets underway at 5:00 p.m. and the softball twin bill starts at 5:30. Game two of softball will be streamed live on kniakrls.com (KNIA3), with pregame coverage beginning at approximately 7:15.
Class 4A fourth-ranked Norwalk and 4A fifth-ranked DC-G have shared the last two Little Hawkeye softball championships. The Warriors will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season, an 8-7 defeat at Indianola on Monday. They enter the night with a record of 12-1 overall and 7-1 in the LHC. The Mustangs improved to 14-0 and 7-0, respectively, with Monday’s 17-0 win over Newton.
The Norwalk baseball team is 6-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play following Monday’s 8-3 loss at Indianola. DC-G, which is 8-4 overall and 6-1 in the Little Hawkeye, has won five consecutive head-to-head matchups with the Warriors.
