
The Indianola baseball team scored a combined 26 runs to secure the season series over Pella Christian, as they swept Wednesday night’s Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader 16-5 and 11-1, and the second game was broadcast live on 92.1 KRLS.
In the opening game, the Indians used a steady offensive attack to build up their lead before pulling away late. Indianola plated one run in the first inning, three in the second, and two runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings to build up a 10-4 lead after the fifth. A six-run seventh inning for the Indians put the game away for good, as the Eagles managed just one run in the bottom of the frame. Indianola used the momentum from the game one win to jump out to another early lead in the nightcap, as they scored four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. The Indians added on three more runs across the third and fourth innings, while Pella Christian plated their lone run in the third, to make the score 7-1 going into the fifth. Indianola finished the second game in the sixth inning, scoring four runs in the top of the frame and holding the Eagles scoreless to finish off the sweep.
Dallas Harlan led the high scoring offense for the Indians Wednesday night, going 5-7 in the two games with two doubles, four runs scored, and two walks. Andrew DeWall recorded three RBIs for Indianola, while also going 3-6 with a home run, a double, two walks, and three runs scored. Asher Brueck contributed a team-high five RBIs for the Indians in the twinbill, while going 3-7 with two triples and three runs scored. Josiah Vink and Eliot Menninga were the lone Eagles to have multi-hit games, with Vink going 2-3 with a run scored and a walk in game one, while Menninga went 2-3 in the second game.
Indianola improved to 14-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play, while Pella Christian fell to 4-13 overall and 0-10 in the conference. Both squads return to action on Friday, with the Indians hosting Pella in a game that can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS and 94.3 KNIA at 6:45 pm, while the Eagles will host Dallas Center-Grimes at 7 pm.
