On Monday, June 9, 2025, at 7:03 p.m., local, county, and federal law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at 1210 N 4th Avenue E in Newton as part of an ongoing investigation. During the search, officers discovered a deceased adult male inside the home. The individual has been identified as 66-year-old Tomie Lee Misner Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa.
The Newton Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. Results of an autopsy conducted by the Office of the State Medical Examiner are pending. This incident remains under investigation.
