Rain and the threat of more rain caused both the Knoxville Baseball and Softball games to be called off on Thursday against Chariton. The baseball double header will be postponed to June 27th. Tonight baseball plays at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. The Panthers sit alone in 3rd place of the South Central Conference and are trying to keep pace with last night’s opponent Chariton, who is 9-0 in the conference. The Rockets have started off rough going 2-12 and 1-8 in conference play. Coach Turner Devore does not want his guys to look at the opponent’s record, but worry more about themselves and have a head down, grind it out mentality.
Devore: “We have to keep grinding. We have to keep playing and getting better. I’ve had a lot of parents ask what are you going to do, and I tell them we just have to keep playing and if there’s a game we have to give away because we don’t play well, that’s baseball.”
Tonight’s contest is set to begin at 7:00.
