In two weeks, the family of a young Pella girl killed in a sledding accident will keep her memory alive through a fundraiser to support a non-profit cause. On Saturday, June 28th, the family of Milly Zellmer is hosting Milly Moo’s Fundraiser for the Pella Public Library at Sun Valley Barn from 5 to 9 p.m. The event will include food, kids activities, live music, and a silent auction. Milly’s mother Kristi says her late daughter was known for reading, which is why this year’s event will benefit the Pella Public Library.
“She spent hours in her room as a toddler reading books to herself and making up all sorts of wonderful tales and she turned the pages. She even had the words to her favorite books memorized. We are excited for you to help us carry on Milly’s legacy by raising funds for the Pella Public Library,” Kristi wrote on the group’s events page.
Milly died in a sledding accident on February 16th, 2023. In the two-and-a-half years since, her family has raised money for the Marion County Humane Society and Little Dutch Academy through a summer fundraiser, and have encouraged the community to participate in Milly Moments of kindness each of the past two winters.
