
Three soccer players from the KNIA/KRLS coverage area have been selected to play in today’s Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association Senior Showcase All-Star Games. Max Magana of Knoxville and Norwalk’s Tavin Ferner will compete for the Boys East Team and Norwalk’s Maya Butler will play for the Girls East Team.
The all-star games will be held this afternoon at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines. The Girls Senior Showcase match starts at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Boys Senior Showcase match at 3:00. The senior all-stars will also be recognized during the Des Moines Menace home soccer game tonight at Valley Stadium.
Magana helped Knoxville reach the Class 2A state tournament this year. The Panther defender scored six goals and had four assists. Ferner was the second-leading goal scorer in Class 3A with 25 and added four assists, helping lead Norwalk to the state semifinals. Butler tallied five goals and seven assists for the Warrior girls, who reached the 2A regional finals.
