Corey Day does not drive a sprint car full time. He has been dabbling in pavement racing in the NASCAR Trucks this season and jumps in a sprint car when the schedule allows. Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway he won night two of the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash with the World of Outlaws Nos Energy Drink Sprint Cars. Day got a good start and what looked like a three way duel between himself, Brad Sweet, and Ryan Timms turned out to be a case of holding on as a charging David Gravel was breathing down his neck. Gravel was cutting into Day’s lead but Day held on for the win. He told KNIA/KRLS Sports he did not intend to make it that close but was happy it worked out.
Day: “I’m glad it worked out, hate that he got it that close, I like to win them by a lot, we’ll work on that for Nationals. Really glad tyo have got a win before Nationals.”
Michael Kofoid was 3rd. In the 360s, Cam Martin led from start to finish to pick up his first career sprint car win at the Knoxville Raceway. Martin jumped into the lead and had to deal with a mid race restart and Clint Garner bidding for the lead, but Martin held off everyone. The Knoxville Raceway will sit silent next week as it is an off week for the Husets High Bank Nationals. The next action at the Knoxville Raceway will be June 28th.
