Central College faculty received $135,364 in grants from the Moore Family Foundation to support 22 proposals for the 2025-26 academic year.

The Moore Family Foundation provides grants to support Central faculty professional development and faculty-led projects that enhance student learning. Since 2013, the college’s faculty have received 174 grants totaling $880,730 from the Moore Family Foundation Development Program for Teaching.

The late Frank Moore, a 1949 Central graduate, and his wife, Grace, who was designated an honorary alumna of Central in 2001, have been long-term generous benefactors to the college. Frank served as director of the human research area files at Yale University, where Grace was a foreign language translation editor. From 1979-1988, Frank served as a Central trustee. Together, the Moores created two scholarships funded by their annuities, one endowed scholarship, two faculty awards and a chair in anthropology, in addition to ongoing gifts from the Moore Family Foundation.

Current Moore Family Foundation board members are Jim Brandl, a 1965 Central graduate; Dan Bruss, former Central chemistry professor; Al Hibbard, adjunct instructor of math; Fred Kreykes; Tom Johnson, retired vice president for finance and administration/treasurer; Dave Sutphen, retired vice president for advancement and a 1961 Central graduate; Ardie Pals Sutphen, retired executive assistant to the president and Central Class of 1964; Vern Den Herder, Central trustee emeritus and a 1971 Central graduate; and Aaron Roerdink.
