The Indianola summer teams swept Oskaloosa on the road Monday, baseball winning 6-2 and 6-0, and softball winning 12-8 and 10-0 in six innings.
Bryant Ritchie pitched five inning striking out four for the Indians baseball squad, while Andrew DeWall went 2-4 at the plate driving in two runs and Max Wedmore went 2-3. Game two was another pitching gem, as DeWall went the distance striking out 10 for the win, and Wedmore went 1-2 with a double and a run driven in, and Dax Heimbaugh also went 1-2. Indianola improves to 17-3 on the season and 10-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference play, and will next play tomorrow hosting Ames.
The softball team had to stay on top offensively in their matchup with Oskaloosa, as Osky scored four runs in the first to lead 4-0, before Indianola struck back for three in the third to cut the lead to one. Indianola then scored nine in the fourth to take a 9-4 lead, then added another three in the sixth after Osky scored a run to lead 12-5 and a late rally wasn’t enough.
The Indianola squad then blanked Osky in the second game, scoring runs in the first, third, and sixth innings to end the game early. Indianola is now 12-7 on the season and 8-3 in conference play, and will host Waukee Northwest tonight.
