The Indianola City Council discussed Vision 2030 at their meeting Monday evening, reviewing possible options for the city regarding future city facilities for the Indianola Police and Fire Departments in addition to other city staff working at city hall. Mayor Steve Richardson tells KNIA News the city purchased the Regions Bank building on the square, and the initial estimate is approximately $2 million but the council thinks it can be lower. Richardson said the building would make room for non-emergency personnel from the city.

“What we’re hoping to do is get this put together and be able to go put it on a bond that we can then pay, and allow police and fire to take over what is currently city hall, the entire building. We are still up in the air whether or not we want to put council chambers in the Regions building or keep the one we have. Again, it’s going to be money, we are going to figure out where we can go with that and what space we can provide for police and fire in the other facility.”
