The Pella City Council held a public hearing for a contract to reconstruct Lincoln Street at their meeting Tuesday. The council approved a $1.04 million contract with Blommers Construction for the project that will start in July and be wrapped up late this fall, and includes complete repaving, sewer, and water line updates from Houston to East 3rd Street.

There are ten other action items the council approved on Tuesday
– Wage scale and job classification structure amendment
– Supporting multijurisdictional application to the U.S. DOT (University Street proposal
– Execution of Community Project Funding Grant Agreement
– Vacation of public sanitary sewer easement near Prairie Ridge West Plat 1
– Scheduling a public hearing for vacation of public water main and sanitary sewer easements on Pella Corporation property
– Scheduling a public hearing for vacation of public water main easements on Trigen LLC Property at 102 Main
– Accepting a proposal for $15.6 million in Local Option Sales and Services Tax revenue bonds
– Joint use facility agreement between City of Pella’s electric utility and Pella Fiber related to electronic metering
– Professional services agreement with Garden & Associates for Pella Municipal Airport apron expansion
– Professional services agreement with Terracon Consultations for materials testing for Pella Indoor Recreation Center

A policy and planning work session followed with discussion regarding a proposed sidewalk expansion along Hazel Street north of Elm and building permit fee changes, without formal action.
