While Knoxville struck first, it was largely a softball game that featured Pella’s offense in a 9-1, five inning victory heard live on both KNIA and KRLS on Tuesday.

The Panthers took advantage of three free baserunners and a Dutch fielding error to score in the first frame, only for the Dutch to answer with five runs in the bottom of the 1st and three more in the 2nd. The Panthers were able to strand Pella’s bases loaded situation in the 3rd inning, but Pella found the winning run in the 4th before closing the door in the top of the 5th.

Emma Eekhoff earned the win in the circle for Pella, giving up one unearned run and a one hit, striking out four Panthers batters.

The Dutch improve to 9-8 overall and host Newton this evening for a Little Hawkeye Conference varsity matchup, a game that can be heard on 92.1 KRLS at 7:15 this evening. The #2 in 3A Pella baseball team is also hosting the Cardinals on the KRLS3 stream, and both can also be watched on Pella Dutch Live on YouTube.

Knoxville falls to 1-10 overall and travels to Cardinal this evening.
