The Pleasantville baseball team outlasted non-conference opponent Southeast Warren in a pitchers dual on the road Wednesday night.
It was a story of starting pitching between the #2 ranked Trojan baseball team and the Warhawks in a game that was deadlocked until the sixth inning. Pleasantville starter Easton Cox and Southeast Warren starter Drake Steil took turns mowing through each other’s lineups. The game was tied 1-1 heading into the sixth inning but the Trojans were able to break through for three runs after a wild pitch and an error on the Warhawk defense. The other run in the contest for Pleasantville came off a walk earlier in the game and the lone run for the Warhawks came from a wild pitch as all five combined runs in the game were unearned.
Stanton Major got the win on the mound as he came into the game to replace Cox in the fifth and then JJ Phillips entered the game in the sixth to pick up the save. As the starter, Cox just gave up two hits, one run and picked up three strikeouts. Offensively for Pleasantville Braylon Bingham and Phillips both had two hits in the contest. The Trojan baseball team remains perfect on the season as they improve to 17-0 and they will be back in action tonight for a doubleheader on the road at ACGC.
