The #15 in class 5A Indianola softball team defeated Boone Thursday evening 10-6 in a non-conference matchup on the road. The Indians went up 1-0 in the first inning on an Alexa Guyer RBI single, then went up 2-0 on a Kaitlyn Bonnes sacrifice fly in the second. Boone tied the score in the third plating two runs, but Indianola plated three in the fifth with Guyer, Bria Boell, and a run on the basepaths to lead 5-2. The Toreadors did not go away quietly however, plating four runs in the bottom of the inning as they led 6-5, but Guyer continued her monster night driving in another two runs in the sixth to reclaim a 7-6 lead. Ava Tichy drove in a run on a groundout in the seventh, and Tessa Gripp hit a two-run shot to left to get to the final tally. Indianola improves to 13-8 on the season, and has a crucial doubleheader against Dallas Center-Grimes tonight. Game two of the doubleheader can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at approximately 7:15pm.
