The City of Baxter is seeking candidates to apply for a vacant city council seat. Dalton Kinzel, who’s been on the Baxter City Council for a little more than a year, has resigned. In order to avoid the cost of holding two elections for the same council seat in just six months, the remaining four Baxter City Council members have decided to fill the vacancy by appointment. Residents who are interested in the position are encouraged to apply before the application deadline, which is July 9th. A link to the application can be found here. The appointment and swearing in of the new Baxter City Council member is expected during the July 14th council meeting. With this seat up for election in November, the appointed person will serve through the end of the year.
