A Nike Cross Country All-American is back in Oregon to compete among the best in the nation on the oval. Pella’s Marissa Ferebee placed 14th in the 5000 meters on Thursday in a time of 17:30.8. Ferebee is to compete in the 3000 meters at 8:10 p.m. Central Time tonight in Eugene.
Marissa is coming off of a remarkable junior season, which lead her to the Nike Cross Nationals last December following breaking Iowa’s all-time 5K record at the state track and field meet and winning the Nike Heartland Regional race. An offseason injury limited some of what Ferebee was hoping to accomplish this spring, and despite that, she remained among the best in Iowa. Marissa placed 9th in the 1500 meters and 6th in the 3000 meters at the 2025 Drake Relays, following that up with the Class 3A state title in the 3000 race in May.
