
The Pella Christian summer sports squads will host round two of the Tulip City Showdown Monday night, as they welcome Pella to Eagle Lane for single Little Hawkeye Conference games.
The Eagles baseball squad will look to end their recent two-game losing skid, after falling on a walk-off to Knoxville at the Field of Dreams on Thursday and dropping Friday night’s game against Des Moines Christian. Looking to get back in the win column, Pella Christian will face a Pella squad that is ranked #2 in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A rankings. The Dutch are also looking for a bounce back game, after splitting their doubleheader against Norwalk on Friday, winning the first game 8-3 but falling in the nightcap 2-0. The two baseball squads previously met on June 6th, with Pella taking both ends of the doubleheader 8-1 and 5-0 to secure the season series.
On the softball diamond, the Eagles are looking to extend their winning streak to five games, after they defeated Des Moines Christian 9-2 Friday night to complete a 4-0 week. Pella Christian also swept a doubleheader against Newton last Monday, before defeating Knoxville on Thursday. Trying to secure the season series Monday, the Eagles will square off with a Dutch team looking to stay above .500 on the year, after they were swept in a doubleheader against Norwalk on Friday. Pella Christian and Pella split the two games in their twinbill in early June, with the Dutch winning the first game 6-5, and the Eagles bouncing back for a dominant 14-0 victory in four innings.
Monday’s baseball game between Pella Christian and Pella can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 3:45 pm. The softball contest between the Eagles and Dutch can be heard on the KRLS2 stream, with pregame coverage starting at 4 pm.
